A 500th Bomb Group Boeing B-29, Rablin Roscoe, piloted by Major John Limpp, crashed into a bank along the Number 2 strip at its 7th Air Force base on Iwo Jima, Bonin Islands, upon returning from the 15 April 1945 Tokyo raid.
Major Limpp died from his injuries.
