342-FH-3A-42705-A58882AC crash Wreckage of Marine North American B-25 on Iwo Jima that crashed while attempting blind landing during a dense fog 19 April 1945. The plane was being guided in by Army-Navy Mobile Radar Navigational Aid Unit (An/MPN-1) in one of its first blind landing attempts. Unexplained miscalculations during the process brought the B-25 in too low and it struck the ground about 500 yards short of the runway. All crew members were killed.
