Shown here are ground men assisting the pilot away from the burning plane. Pilot sustained arm bums. The crash was on Iwo Jima. James Van Nada of the 72nd Fighter Squadron had previously flown this plane until he was injured in the Banzai attack of March 26th, 1945.
