While on a bombing mission on May 29, 1945 over Yokohama, Japan, six crew members bailed out of this Boeing B-29 after a direct flak hit in the No. 1 engine. The plane was on fire and lost 10,000 feet, but the pilot was able to bring it under control and return to Iwo Jima.
